clients: North lanarkshire council, newarthill walking group
Role: project lead
The brief for this project was to design pocket-maps for a community walking group in the Newarthill, Carfin and Motherwell areas of North Lanarkshire. The project was funded by the council and I worked closely with the two founders of the walking group to develop a visual identity for the group and to determine four different walks to map (each of varying difficulty) and the features which they wanted to include.
The maps were created using Mapbox GIS software and Adobe InDesign. The budget allowed for 4000 to be printed on recycled paper to distribute to public buildings in the area, hoping to encourage more active travel and outdoor, social exercise.
