St Giles' National Covenant Interactive Exhibit
I designed an interactive exhibit exploring the National Covenant and its significance to St Giles’ and the Scottish Reformation. Visitors were invited to examine a reproduction of the Covenant through a magnifying glass, encouraging closer engagement with the document and its distinctive seventeenth-century handwriting.
Selected passages from the Covenant were then taken out of the document and turned into physical objects through laser cutting. Each extract was displayed alongside a typographic transcription of the original Scots and a modern English translation, making the language and meaning of the document more accessible whilst retaining a direct visual connection to the original handwriting.
I developed the concept, visual design and interpretation for the exhibit, and commissioned maker Scott Durbin to fabricate the finished display.
